Mild pepper notes, mixed berry flavor, very smooth, medium bodied wine. Easy to drink, either as an aperitif or with a wide range of foods. We previously tasted the 2000 vintage of this wine and found it pleasant, but lacking in extraction and length, and this vintage improves in these respects, but also comes up a little short compared with out favorite Zins. Overall, though, a great bargain and a crowd pleaser. Certainly worth 2 of the Charles Shaw phenoms. - MJA 2003-02-25
