This a big, mouth-coating red with a Saint-Emilion-like blend of grapes but with a definite Napa Valley intensity and mouth-feel. At nearly age 9, it is as fresh as the day it was bottled and will be great for at least another 10 years. But the tannins have softened and the mouth feel is outstandingly ripe and round. Deep aromas and earthy flavors of cassis liqueur, dark berries, chocolate, violets, charcoal. Tremendous grip and length in the mouth and finish, great concentration, but no heaviness or clumsiness whatever. Drinking sensationally right now. - HK 2015-12-10
