Similar to the 2001 at a comparable stage, this wine is still relatively tannic. But also like the 2001, this has a beautiful inky dark color and spicy, leathery blackberry and currant fruit along with a touch of tobacco and earthiness. Excellent balance with classy structure and richness. It would be interesting to taste this wine again in a few years, but it never lasts that long in our cellar. - HK 2004-12-09
