Elegant, smooth, fresh, deeply colored Bordeaux that displays attractive cedar, smoke, and dark berries in the nose. Medium-bodied and balanced, but fairly straightforward and not especially long. Classically structured Bordeaux like this are terrific when purchased for $15 or so in futures and hidden away in the cellar for a few years. But certainly not worth the $30+ you'd have to pay for an '89 Chasse Spleen now. - HK 2003-01-05
