Since our dinner at this fine restaurant was a 'gift', we splurged and bought this unknown, but (waiter) recommended Zin from Dry Creek Valley, our favorite Zinfandel appellation. If this wine was a Merlot, it would justify top honors: floral, volatile, perfumy first impression, with a nice strawberry fruit tinge. Very pleasant, with no hint of tannin and very ready to drink now. This wine is very smooth, but somewhat short on the palate, with only a slightly spicy after-taste. We sipped the wine through courses of mussels, foie gras, spicy med-rare beef, and rhubarb dessert, and it held up quite adequately. Probably most connoisseurs would rate this one more highly, and it is hard to find anything to fault, but somehow it misses the Zin essence that WineBorks seek.
