A first try at a sparkling Vouvray. We've had some excellent dry and semi-dry still Vouvrays; but still there was some trepidation trying a sparkling version, particularly at a price similar to inexpensive California or Spanish sparklers. But this was a delight -- totally dry, yeasty, but with an intriguing and refreshing fruitiness and no hint of the off-the-mark tastes that distort so many Champagne wannabes. The best sparkling wine bargain we've tasted in a long time. - HK 2000-11-10
