Virtually every 2004 Beaujolais we tasted was poor, but 2005 is a totally different story. This Chiroubles is opaque deep-purple in color and has excellent ripeness and depth of fruit - everything that makes Beaujolais, when it's right, a terrific wine to drink. Aromas and flavors here are dominated by ripe strawberries, black raspberries, and violets. Silky smooth in the mouth, no rough edges, nice food wine because of its medium weight and balance. On top of everything else, a tremendous bargain. - HK 2007-09-03
