One of the best Pinot Noir values in recent memory --extremely Burgundy-like (Cote de Beaune), but a third the price of a comparable Burgundy and half the price of most reasonably good California Pinots. Deep, pure, complex dark cherry, spice (nutmeg), and subtle oak aromas and flavors, extremely silky texture. Distinguished from even most good California Pinots by its elegance and sense of refinement -- not at all clumsy or candied or unbalanced. Distinguished from most Burgundies by its full flavors and texture, and of course its price. Its elegance belies its 14.5% alcohol.. If you can find it, snarf it up immediately! - HK 2000-07-06
