Another "inexpensive" red Burgundy that struggles to make it into the "B" category in price/performance. This was tasted a little young, but it was still quite a tasty Pinot Noir. Along with a hint of the "magical" Burgundy fruit and complexity, this wine actually had a fairly round mouth feel (unusual in a young Burgundy and very rare in an inexpensive one -- these are normally somewhat thin and acidic) and some positive earthy/herbal components as well. Grapey, fairly supple, tart cherries and plums, a distant floral edge. Not bad, but we'll continue to buy these in limited quantities, with hope springing eternal for an affordable Burgundy surprise. - HK 2001-08-17
