While blended from the same three vineyards as the lower-priced "Fogdog" Pinot Noir, there is clearly a higher level of intensity and complexity in the outstanding "Freestone" Pinot. This wine possesses a forceful, lively mouth feel as well as a rich and seamless texture. Fruit flavors lean towards cranberry and raspberry with lower doses of cherry and pomegranate. Intense, sweet-smelling spices and earthy charcoal notes round out the flavors. The balance and pure feel of this wine make it utterly untiring to the palate. Drinking very well now, but will undoubtedly round out over the next few years. - HK 2010-11-14
