Tasted back in 2000, this was a powerful, extracted, reticent wine - and basically not yet ready. But it tasted magnificent in this most recent encounter. Classic smoke and Cassis Bordeaux nose, still holding back a bit. But in flavor and finish it hit the upper atmosphere of the great Bordeaux - tremendously rich, balanced, complex, mouth-coating flavors of earth, smoke, dark currants, violets, and blackberries. Astonishingly youthful in all respects for a 24 year old wine. I try not to think about the price ($12) I paid 20-some years ago. - HK, GK 2006-06-15
