High (88 point) Rovani rating and maybe even a "deal" at $20, considering the outlandish prices for red Burgundy nowadays. Not, however, a deal on an absolute pleasure scale and not, in our opinion, worthy of a score like that. This wine is elegant, medium bodied, with hints of that incomparable Burgundy Pinot Noir nose and flavors that can make these wines so memorable and unique. Restrained "true" Beaune perfume if you search hard enough, and that's almost worth the price of admission (but not quite). Good though not particularly forward red fruit flavors, somewhat short and slightly dusty finish. Maybe a little young and with room for improvement. A good but not great wine. That, unfortunately is the description that applies to most "affordable" Burgundies, and the prices of even these wines are pretty ridiculous. - HK 2000-06-17
