Insanely delicious Pinot Noir that's - yes - worth the price. While still primary and not totally evolved, there are layers upon layers of ripe, life-affiriming Pinot fruit. Extremely fresh and energetic in the mouth, the wine paints every square inch of the palate with a complex range of flavors - dark cherry, of course, but also definite tinges of blubbery, creme de cassis, pine resin, and an orange peel component in the finish that reminded me of Grand Marnier liqueur. Remarkable aromas as well, with red floral notes and sweet spice on top of the fruits. It was admittedly infanticide to open this wine at age 4 since it will unquestionably improve for at least 5 more years, but it was absolutely enjoyable and memorable even tasted this young. - HK 2016-08-09
