A big, meaty Chateauneuf that still has a youthful, energetic feel as it nears age 10. Deep ruby color with no sign of amber at the edge. Earthy, almost funky, complex nose displays cherry and blueberry fruit with a smokey edge (almost as if macerated in Scotch whiskey), along with dark figs, kirsch, roasted herbs. Rich mouth feel. I'm guessing CdP lovers will rate this much more highly; I just can't quite get past that funky characteristic. - HK 2015-10-28
