Rich, enticing, earthy Syrah displaying aromas of ground pepper and spicy blackberry and plum fruit, and a full yet nicely balanced texture. The wine evolves beautifully with airing, as first the spice and pepper, then the ripe plum and blackberry fruit seem to come to the fore above the layers of other flavors. Rich yet not at all heavy in feel, enough tannin and acid to balance the fullness of the fruit and keep the wine fresh and delicious. Truly well-made Syrah at a fair price for the quality. - HK 2009-01-11
