Crisp, refreshing Chardonnay from a cool Green Valley vineyard at the far west edge of the Russian River AVA. It is very different in feel from the Landmark Carneros Chardonnays that are more unctuous and overtly fruity. This wine is defined more by its pure, tight texture and mineral and hazelnut notes and less on its fruit, which reminded me of honeyed lemon. Pure and well balanced, though I think that overall I prefer the Landmark Carneros wines for their flavor authority. Actually, I'm not sure I prefer any of the single vineyard Landmark Chardonnays I've tried thus far to their outstanding Damaris Reserve blend, which is about $10 less per bottle. But ALL the Landmark wines are excellent and fairly priced, including this one. - HK 2016-01-22
