I have a feeling the 2009 Lanessan will ultimately be a superior wine to the 2010, but at least at this point (2016) it's a little less outgoing and charming. The fact that the 2009 tasted more evolved and open on the second day also implies that there is some definite positive development in this wine's future. In any case, the 2009 Lanessan is another harmonious, classic Bordeaux with slightly weedy, cedary dark berry and dark currant flavors, a slightly austere but still satisfying medium-bodied feel in the mouth, and the overall balance and sturdiness that make these wines so enjoyable and such remarkable bargains. This wine is one of countless Bordeaux in the $20 range that blow away most new world Cabs that are anywhere close to this price point. - HK 2016-10-03
