2003 Chateau Lascombes
Margaux, Bordeaux, France

WB Rating: 87

Alcohol by volume: 13.0%
Price at time of purchase: $24.00 (Premier Cru)

Type: Cabernet / Bordeaux
Principal varietal(s): Bordeaux blend

Very soft-knit and open at age 10. Round and soft in the mouth with completely unobtrusive tannins. Initial impressions of macerated cherries, plums, barbecue smoke, oaky spice, and violets. With airing, morphs into a funkier, earthier, old-style mix of pipe tobacco, cedar, and licorice. Excellent Bordeaux, but a tad funky and unfocussed to this taster. Unfortunately, I know I'll never see a Lascombes for $24 again! - HK 2013-02-15
