If this wine could be boiled down to half its volume, it would really be pretty good. Surprisingly round, sweet blackberry fruit with toffee and coffee components. None of the weird over-cedary or woody edge that many California Cabs develop in their old age. But just not enough depth or extraction for a better rating, and a rather simple, short finish. Fortunately, this winery was bought in the early 90's by Silver Oak, in whose wines one can find a bit more extraction! - HK 2000-11-06
