I was completely unprepared for how excellent this wine is. Dark ruby purple to the rim at age 10. Admirable richness, like a really good Napa Cab, though its makeup is closer to 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. Velvety smooth in the mouth, very rich without heaviness. Mouth-coating blackberry and dark currant fruit with notes of chocolate, smoke, espresso, and a tangy, crunchy edge reminiscent of cranberry. Full-bodied, satisfying, long. This is drinking exceptionally well right now, but it's beautifully balanced and showing no signs of fading. I wish I'd bought more of this at $24 when I had the chance. - HK 2013-09-12
