Like all Martinelli Zins (and unlike the big Dry Creek Zins), more like a liqueur than a port. Slightly transparent purple in color - like a Pinot Noir - with a striking range of aromas and flavors: strawberry, blackberry, drying herbs, roasted root vegetables (beets?), exotic spices. The flavors absorb the alcohol nicely, but this is still a wine to be enjoyed with cheese or hearty main courses. Martinelli Zins are always interesting and fun to drink as well as challenging to describe. - HK 2017-08-09
