The name derives from the fact that the vineyard was started from cuttings from Pedroncelli's original 1927-era vineyard. This wine begins promising, with a fruity, spicy attack, but on the whole it is not particularly long or extracted. Should be enjoyable now with strong flavored foods, or try cellaring for a year or so, to see if some more subtle flavors emerge. - MJA 2002-11-25
