I didn't taste the 2013 and 2014 Pezzi King Row 14 Zins side-by-side (and I actually tried the 2013 earlier than the 2012), but I have a sneaking suspicion the 2012 might barely get the nod. These are both spectacular, beautifully balanced wines. The 2012 is extremely rich and mouth-filling, with plenty of muscle, yet it's surprisingly elegant and round in the mouth, not at all the in-your-face alcoholic beefcake you might expect. Deeply colored and layered with a panoply of berry and red fruit flavors and spice, easy to savor without requiring any kind of potent food to tone it down. - HK 2016-06-02
