Deep purple in color, aromas of earthy wild berries and violets with a pronounced smokey campfire edge. Fairly rich feel in the mouth, but the flavors seem suppressed compared to the nose. Still has lots of bitter, dry tannins in the finish (at age 7) that really decrease its charm. I don't see this wine mellowing a lot in future, and I'm not sure it will ever be more pleasant than right now. - HK 2013-12-23
