The inky dark color and high alcohol are promising. But while this wine is delicious and I'd never send it back, it's not what we're used to in Pagani Ranch. As opposed to the brawny, muscular profile we've see in past Pagani's, this one is more like a late-harvest Pinot Noir. Intense nose of super ripe cherries and plums, sweet mouth feel, sweet but monolithic cherry and plum fruit with a strong clove-like spice. An interesting and tasty wine, but doesn't fit our preferred Zin profile. It's important to serve this wine with a food that can balance its sweet aromas, flavors, and texture. - WB Team 2002-10-03
