Ridge did a really good job with their Zins in the difficult 2011 vintage. I'd rate the 2011 Geyserville only slightly behind the outstanding 2011 Lytton Springs. By no means a big Zin - barely hitting 14% alcohol - but sleek and feminine in style with a texture as much like a Pinot Noir as a Zinfandel. Still, it's a complex and delicious wine with an intriguing range of flavors from classic dark cherry to roasted figs, plums, and kirsch liqueur, along with a healthy dose of sweet, spicy oak. Velvety smooth, satisfying, not overpowering in any way. - HK 2015-10-15
