We remain unswayed by the Ridge Dry Creek Sangiovese, as it offers only a hint of the supple richness, elegance, and fruitiness routinely produced in their Zins, Grenaches, and even Carignanes. This is an impeccably well-made wine, as all Ridges are, but strikes us as a bit tough-textured and one-dimensional. OK dark cherry fruit with a leathery, pine-needle edge, good body, moderate finish. But just not up to the Ridge Zins in terms of pleasure level. May be better in a year or two. - WB Team 2001-01-11
