As always, this wine seems to be delicious and ready to drink soon after bottling, unlike some of the other great Seghesio Zins that require a year or two to round out. Smooth and polished - hard to believe given the 15.7% alcohol and undoubted tannin level - yet with mouth-filling richness. Unusually elegant for a young Zinfandel, this beautiful wine, from 113 year old vines, coats the mouth with spicy blackberry flavors and a nicely balanced dose of sweet oak. Excellent length and depth. It's hard to find Zinfandels much more pleasant to drink than this one. - HK 2008-07-19
