Slightly different grape makeup compared to the 2007, but a similar character. Full of dark berry and currant flavors complicated by earth, sweet oak and violets. Big wine but nicely in balance with a muscular texture yet fine tannins and a rounded feel in the mouth. Should be good for several more years, but drinking nicely right now at age 7. Aged in 100% new oak but the wine's fruit density keeps that easily in check. From high-altitude grapes mostly in Knight's Valley. - HK 2016-03-12
