This unusual and excellent wine is made by Travaglini, one of the wineries in the Beringer Wine Estates empire. According to the website, the wine is made from among the lowest yields in all of Italy. Ruby purple color. Very appealing nose of cherry, jammy dark currants, and oak. Bright bing cherries highlight the flavors, and there is none of the excessive acidity or leathery texture that can detract from many Italian reds. Good length. - HK 2002-12-27
