It's not often that "elegant" is the first word that comes to mind when drinking a wine with 16.5% alcohol, but Turley has an uncanny ability to turn out wines that hide their alcohol almost completely. This wine was delicious for sure, but almost too suave and polite. Subtle nose showed vanilla, spice, and ripe cherry. Seamless in the mouth (this is "ho hum" with Turley but almost nobody else), with round flavors. Maybe in a quiescent period, but for now not quite enough bone-rattling vigor for our jaded tastes. - WB Team 2004-12-12
