| 1999 Verget Saint-Veran|
Saint-Veran, Burgundy, France
WB Rating: 85
Alcohol by volume: 13.0%
Price at time of purchase: $13.00 (North Berkeley Wine Imports)
Principal varietal(s): Chardonnay
A typical "low end" Verget -- good balance and flavor delineation, with all the components in place except high intensity. (You have to pay extra for that!) This wine has spiced apples, pear, and mineral flavors, and an appealing component of red fruits. Not as good, in my opinion, as the Verget Macons (which are a "lower" classification), but a good French Chardonnay for the price. - HK 2001-01-14
