A tremendous buy from the Bendigo area of southeastern Australia. Opaque purple in color, this is a big, alcoholic powerhouse of a wine. Chewy herb-tinged dark berry fruit with a mocha-like component, mouthcoating texture, pure finish with significant but round tannins. This is a brawny, uncomplicated wine that's hard to beat for the price. To be served with slabs of beef around the fire, not veal by candlelight. - HK 2007-04-12
