Stunningly good Pinot from the netherlands of California Pinot production. Exceedingly pure, focused aromas and flavors reminiscent of some super once-affordable-but-no-longer Cote de Nuits red Burgundies. Rich, complex, ever-evolving perfume of concentrated black cherry, blackberry, and blueberry fruit, along with intense rose petal and Asian spice notes. Despite the depth of fruit and lively acid balance, there is no shrill or overdone feeling - this wine has an admirable feel of harmony and grip in the mouth. Probably my favorite Woodenhead Pinot to date, even including the excellent Buena Tierra from the Russian River. - HK 2014-01-31
