If you aren't fortunate enough to live in California or one of the other wine-friendly states, then you are undoubtably frustrated with the poor wine selections available to you. Free the Grapes! is a national, grassroots coalition of consumers and wineries who seek to remove restrictions in 28 states that still prohibit consumers from purchasing wines directly from out-of-state wineries. Let's help out here.

The Zinfandel Advocates and Producers organization, ZAP, is dedicated to recognizing the uniqueness of the Zinfandel grape. Anyone can join, and the organization hosts the absolutely worderful Annual Zinfandel Festival, each January in San Francisco. The web site provides background information about Zinfandel and its production. Don't miss the Zinfandel Aroma Wheel.

Bordeaux Central - especially for the Claret enthusiast! Lots of tasting notes contributed by visitors, plus a plethora of information. Great site. You have to get a Microsoft Passport to contribute, but anyone can view.

WineRelease.com informs wine enthusiasts about upcoming fine wine release dates. Over 640 wineries have responded with their release information as of 25 July, 2002.

Although there are many excellent wine sites on the web, sites specializing in Zinfandel are pretty rare. Vivian Nagy's Wine Zealot site is one of the few, and an excellent one to boot! You will find background reading about Zinfandel, lists of wineries, and links to articles and other sites which pay homage to our favorite grape.

About.Com has a very good "Wine" topic site, edited by Lisa Shea. Contents include stem ware, magazines/newsletters, festivals, categories of wines and grapes, storage systems, wine clubs, and just about anything else you can think of that's wine related.

The Wine Spectator is a recognized authority on anything "wine related." This link takes you to a page where you can find profiles and locations of wineries, but you can easily navigate to other pages, e.g., for reviews of recent releases. For a subscription fee, you can access their review library. The Wine Spectator accepts advertising from wine makers.
