As it seems to be every year, this "baseline" Alexander Valley Vineyards Cabernet is a really nice value - especially considering the number of overpriced $50+ Cabs that seem to be the norm nowadays. Attractively ripe, weedy Cabernet fruit with reasonable length and depth for the price (which would certainly be less in general than the $20 paid at the tasting room). As in previous vintages, a tad one-dimensional and lacking in zip, but balanced, tasty, and reasonably priced.
