2008 Zinfandel Late Harvest

Appellation: Sonoma County, California

This is a pleasant, rich, sweet dessert wine, but it strikes me as awfully pricey ($25 for a 375 ml bottle) for a straightforward and uncomplicated wine. It has deep Zinfandel berry fruit, but though it's full-flavored it doesn't have the grip or flavor interest (to this taster, anyway) of genuine Portugese Ports that cost less than half as much. I have to admit it's mighty tasty with chocolate, though.
