Tasting Notes

I've had at best medium luck with Frederic Magnien wines, and I was concerned that the low price on this Grand Cru Chablis was not a good sign. However, it is a gem, overflowing with flavor and class. Beautifully pure nose of Chardonnay fruit with no obvious oak character. Lots of lemon/lime citrus, roasted nuts, subtle lees/yeast, and an attractive smokey/herbal edge. In the mouth, crisp and pure as the driven snow yet round and mouth-filling with a lingering, fruit-dominated finish. Purchased during a super sale at North Berkeley for less than $25!
