2005 Macon Villages Vieilles Vignes

Appellation: Macon Villages, Burgandy, France

At least at this point, this Macon-Villages is a fairly simple Chardonnay, light but flavorful. Some yeasty notes in the attractive aromas along with touches of tropical fruit and lime. Good honest white, but lacking in flavor intensity and bite compared, for example, to the recently tasted Macon Vergisson from Eric Forest. (Purchased in an excellent mixed-case holiday special at North Berkeley. Normal retail price would be somewhat higher.)
