The Seghesio Cortina Zins have always struck me as fairly tough-textured early in life, but the '06 has softened nicely at age 4. Beautifully balanced mix of deep red and black fruit (especially blackberry and blueberry), acid, oak, spice. Full-bodied, mouth-filling, and long, yet totally in control and focused. As with virtually all the Seghesio Zinfandels, this one is muscular and completely satisfying on the testosterone front, but also restrained enough to be good with food or cheese without dominating.
