| 2012 Bodegas Borsao Tres Picos Garnacha Campo de Borja, Aragon, Spain WB Rating: 88 Alcohol by volume: 15.0% Price at time of purchase: $11.99 (Costco) Type: Spanish red Principal varietal(s): Grenache An excellent buy in Grenache, this is a big, fruity, slightly rustic wine that measures up easily to some of the $30 California Grenache's I've tasted, and likewise to many a good Rhone red. Very ripe and full in the mouth, with deep cherry, kirsch, blueberry, and licorice fruit easily supporting the 15% alcohol. Nice nuances of black pepper and flowers. Smooth and drinkable already, it will likely develop more complexity and perfume with another year or two in the bottle, and it has the balance and structure to age several years beyond that. - HK 2014-11-02 [Back] |
