Healthy ruby red. Much more austere and structured than the 2016. Nice nose suggests dark berries, plums, and a hint of camphor on top of a dense, complex core of roasted herbs and spices and pine resin. Still fairly constricted in the mouth, not clear how much this will soften. But so far I've liked this as much or more than any of the single-vineyard 2017's I've had from Capiaux. 2017 just seems like it was an off year for this excellent producer. - HK 2020-09-13
