| 2007 Chateau St. Jean Pinot Noir Sonoma County, California WB Rating: 87 Alcohol by volume: 14.2% Price at time of purchase: $13.99 (Costco) Type: Pinot Noir / Burgundy Principal varietal(s): Pinot Noir This "bottom tier" Pinot from Chateau St. Jean is really quite impressive for the price. Varietal character is excellent, with a firm core of dark cherry and plum flavors, subtle spiciness, and attractive rose-like floral notes. If these characteristics were paired with a bit more depth, this would be a gem. Even so, extremely fairly priced for a Pinot Noir of this quality. - HK 2009-05-29 [Back] |
