| 2012 Corte Alla Flora Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva Montepulciano, Tuscany, Italy WB Rating: 90 Alcohol by volume: 13.5% Price at time of purchase: $32.00 (Current release) Type: Italian Red Principal varietal(s): Mainly Prugnolo gentile (Sangiovese) I'm generally not a big Sangiovese fan, but what a pleasant surprise this wine was! Probably something of a super-Tuscan blend (though I'm not sure exactly what is in it besides Sangiovese), but reminds me of a big, velvety, high-end California or Australian Cabernet/Syrah blend. Deeply colored, full of dark berries, cassis liqueur, smoke, black olives. Silky smooth and full of fruit flavor in the mouth, yet powerfully structured. A really great find.
