| 1997 Dehlinger Pinot Noir Estate Russian River, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 89 Alcohol by volume: 14.1% Price at time of purchase: $28.00 (Library wine) Type: Pinot Noir / Burgundy Principal varietal(s): Pinot Noir / Red Burgandy This wine is tiptoeing into old age. Very open-knit and soft at this point, without the spark it had a couple of years ago. But still, it displayed excellent fruit extraction and a penetrating nose of rose petals, Asian spices, and vanilla-coated cherries. Silky mouth feel, excellent balance, lingering finish. In general, we found this Pinot slightly softer and lower in acid than the excellent '96, but with similar intensity of spice and cherry/plum fruit. - WB exec team 2004-04-08 [Back] |
