| 2012 Dutton-Goldfield Pinot Noir Angel Camp Vineyard Anderson Valley, Mendocino, California WB Rating: 90 Alcohol by volume: 13.5% Price at time of purchase: $58.00 (from winery) Type: Pinot Noir / Burgundy Principal varietal(s): Pinot Noir This is an excellent Pinot from a classic warm year, yet for some reason I find it slightly less compelling than the 2011 from a much colder year. The wine has that Anderson Valley steel and focus, with a nice balance between its cherry and blueberry fruit and bracing acid. At present the wine is distinguished by its spicy, savory notes and an earthy coffee-like nuance. I think there's still some room for positive development here: I always seem to drink these wines too young! - HK 2016-04-02 [Back] |
