| 2013 Joseph Phelps / Freestone Vineyards Pinot Noir Quarter Moon Vineyard Sonoma Coast, California WB Rating: 91 Alcohol by volume: 13.1% Price at time of purchase: $70.00 (Winery) Type: Pinot Noir / Burgundy Principal varietal(s): Pinot Noir Despite its relatively low alcohol - and despite its tepid Parker review - this is a richly flavored and textured Pinot Noir. It reminded me a lot of some Martinelli Bondi Home Ranch Pinot's I've tasted, though with perhaps a little less intensity. Unlike Parker I did not find this wine remotely tart or out of balance. Classic Pinot aromas and flavors of black raspberry, cherry, blueberry, sweet spices. Beautifully balanced and silky-textured. Not one to hold much longer, perhaps, but drinking well now. - HK 2019-11-28 [Back] |
