| 2001 Guigal Cotes du Rhone Cotes du Rhone, France WB Rating: 86 Alcohol by volume: 13.0% Price at time of purchase: $8.99 (K&L) Type: Rhone Principal varietal(s): Southern Rhone blend May be my favorite Guigal CDR yet, though this is a very consistent wine year to year. It definitely improved with airing, so this wine has a few years of good drinkability left. Medium-bodied and chewy in the mouth, with Dry-Creek-like earthiness accompanying the plum, dark currant, and cherry flavors. Also has a major component of cracked black pepper. Round, nice finish, excellent buy. - HK 2005-01-02 [Back] |
