| 2006 Joel Gott Cabernet Sauvignon 815 California WB Rating: 79 Alcohol by volume: 14.4% Price at time of purchase: $13.99 (K&L) Type: Cabernet / Bordeaux Principal varietal(s): n/a This wine has received some reasonably good press, and it's certainly drinkable, but overall it strikes me as pretty marginal. Weedy Cabernet nose and flavors with a raisiny edge and some intrusive touches of straw and stewed vegetables. Heavy, almost syrupy in the mouth, without a sense of structure to hold it together. Just struck me as off the mark. You can do a lot better in red wine (and even in Bordeaux) for $13.99. - HK 2012-07-05 [Back] |
