| 1999 Joel Gott Zinfandel California WB Rating: 87 Alcohol by volume: 13.8% Price at time of purchase: $14.00 (Premier Cru (Emeryville)) Type: Zinfandel Principal varietal(s): n/a A great find in reasonably priced Zinfandel, made from a blend of roughly equal parts of Napa, Amador, and Lodi fruit. It has a lot of the character and feel of Zins twice its price. Opaque black/purple color, yet pleasant, firm, medium-bodied mouth feel without much tannic bite. Lively, spicy dark berry fruit in both aroma and flavor. Not extremely complex or layered, and the finish, while good, is not lingering -- otherwise it would be rated even higher. At under $15, this wine is a steal! - WB Team 2000-12-19 [Back] |
